Let's go back to basics

Sometimes, less is more.

Sometimes something simple means more than something overly complicated.

It gets the message across much clearly and efficiently.

My point is, what if we instill racial harmony through the simple ways.

What do i mean by this?

Living in a multi-racial country, we have to be sensitive and considerate, we learn to respect each other's cultural and religious belief's. So to do this we have formalities and protocols. But at times, i noticed a 'lack of connection' between the races because of these formalities.

Why do i say this?

From my observation, we have been so accustomed of having to be extra careful with what we talk about, what we say, that we end up being fake with each other. In the end, we ourselves have created a 'barrier'.

I think that most of us end up like this because we have had to be so careful with our communication with one another that the natural flow of the communication has been fading slowly.

It slowly becomes fake. No personal level type of conversation. When it becomes like that, we tend to tune out of each other. We tend to have less empathy for one another, and that is when i think some people feel is alright to say derogatory remarks because they do not have a connection with all of the different races. If one feels connected to the other races, one would not utter such remarks.

Because of the need to be so careful with our remarks, most of us have cultivated the mindset of 'only communicate when necessary'. It leads us to rigid conversation that doesn't flow well and does not form connections.

We end up thinking that it takes to much of an effort to talk to other races because we have been drilled to be careful, be careful. So we just don't communicate outside of the formal conversation, because it's easier than having to 'be careful'.

We slowly adapt to this and it becomes a habit. We don't bother to carry real conversation anymore, we just converse through a medium full of formalities. And for some, that is where it ends. There is no personal connection.

When this happens, we lose the sensitivity towards each other, if we are not able to carry normal conversation between the races, minus all of the formal serious talk, if something as simple as that makes us uncomfortable, we seriously need to loosen up. We are so comfortable being in our 'safety zone' that we lose touch with one another. We are so formal with each other there is no personal connection.

Taking things lightly doesn't mean being ignorant of one another's cultures. It means we should all have the ability to carry proper, respectful conversation with each other without having to be so formal. My suggestion is for us to put all of those formal things aside and relax a little. That way the conversation will have a natural flow, and all of us can learn to feel at ease.

I think in order to live in harmony, we need to learn to connect with each other.

There is no longer a connection because we have been so accustomed to be formal with each other. We don't allow ourself to be comfortable with one another.

we close up on one another.

We are slowly losing the ability of carrying the type of conversation that connects us all.

I think that the little things counts. Little things like being able to just sit and talk with one another, regardless of the different races.
